dustingjour537:

I think I’m starting to understand the fine control that I need to do in Photoshop. I’ve typically stayed away from the curves panel, or just use the camera RAW window in bridge.

These are two different screenshots from before (left) and after (right) using curves. I’m finding it is possible to really change the overall mood of the image very subtly with things like white balance and controlling the highlights and shadows.

Also, an update on my final story project thus far: places I’ve been that I didn’t think I’d be to cover this story:

  • high school football game
  • high school veterans memorial service
  • on top of a house roof

The first thing I noticed when I started this project was how much more valuable every photo is. I am trying to get specific moments, things that people show at very specific times. I’ve shot probably half the amount of what I normally shoot every time I go out for this project.
