currently happening, after a pretty great day. (reading textbook on film editing)
Honestly, just about everything I did today, I loved doing. Working on ideas I didn’t think I’d get to do, learning about things I want to learn, taking pictures whilst hanging from ropes.

so much photoing this weekend. Yes, I’m trying this 365 again. Leaving my photo gear out/unpacked is smart.

freedom tower.

I try to reblog as little as possible, but I wanted to record the first time I saw the Freedom Tower appear on the NYC skyline.

I have diagnosed myself with a problem of being paranoid of looking back at my life too much. I feel like I enjoy it too much.

Right now, I’m enjoying recalling the mornings this past summer while on my internship in Australia. Partly because of jet lag, partly because I’m paranoid about being late when that’s the only thing I have going for me; I had some of the most relaxing mornings of my life while in Australia (not every morning, but most). I had ample time to make breakfast (and pack a lunch), and take it out to the porch and spend some time with God. I quickly learned that I should take the earlier bus and get to work sometimes twenty minutes early rather than get there five minutes late (like I said, paranoid). But a lot of times, especially towards the end of my six weeks there, I would get off two or three stops early. I absolutely loved walking through the busy outdoor malls, and past the small shops on the side of the street, watching everyone get ready. It wasn’t that I dreaded going to work, I loved it, or that I wanted to listen to that song a few more times or finish a podcast; I loved having time to enjoy. Time to think before I started trying to accomplish things. I love having that built into the day.

Thought Dump - 12/27

Sometimes, I imagine writing a short essay about a single thought I have, but I never get around to sitting down and doing it am lazy.

I went to a museum today and found that closer I got to the physical objects and pictures the more details I could glean from them. All I see are more pixels the closer I am to any screen.

I also have thought about keeping a small notebook close by, like I try to do with a camera, but I guess that’s what a blog is here to do.

also, after reading design observer (and listening to this podcast with Frank Chimero), I think (or maybe I’m just looking through too narrow of a window) design today is drifting towards minimalism but not memorability.
